The Impact of Hanwha's Chlorine Leakage on Hanwha's TDI

At 10 o'clock on the morning of May 17, local time, a chlorine leak occurred at the Hanwha Chemical Plant No. 2 in Luchon-dong, South District, Ulsan City, South Korea. At least 19 workers were injured and sent to hospital. Fortunately, none of them was life-threatening. The police are still investigating the cause of the accident. The initial suspicion was that the accident occurred when the chlorine was transferred from the tanker to the tank.

According to Hanworld Chemical Co., Ltd., it is understood that this incident has no impact on Hanwha's TDI. In addition, Hanwha's TDI unit is located in Lishui City, South Korea, and the chlorine leak occurred in Ulsan City, South Korea. The main production of PVC products will not affect the operation of TDI devices. In addition, the MDI production facilities in Korea are all concentrated in Lishui, so this accident will not affect MDI.
